LEAP Preparatory offers middle and high school a dynamic learning experience that is designed for motivated, curious, and astute learners. LEAP provides robust instruction through the core courses—including ELA, science, history, and mathematics—while nurturing a love of deep thinking, creativity, and inquiry. ELA serves as the thematic hub of the program, weaving together meaningful social, scientific, and cultural concepts through literature, writing, and research. Across all subjects, hands-on projects and integrated arts activities bring learning to life, helping students make meaningful connections and express their understanding in imaginative, tangible ways. Students are challenged to read deeply, analyze thoughtfully, create intentionally, and write purposefully as they explore complex topics across disciplines.

On Fridays, students participate in our Friday Arts Collab, where they engage in a variety of academic core courses and creative elective options including art, composition, languages, health/fitness, etc.

Students enrolled in our LEAP Preparatory high school program are offered a full range of core academic courses, along with required additional units such as Health, Personal Fitness, and World Languages, to ensure they meet both the GA Futures graduation requirements and the Required High School Curriculum (RHSC) for admission into the University System of Georgia (USG). Middle School 6th - 8th

Math

We offer leveled math across all programs. Students will be placed in the math group that best suits their working level to ensure solid understanding sequential math concepts. We continue to use Math Mammoth through 6th grade and then shift to an online math option in 7th and 8th as students begin to prepare for high school math courses. A typical math class includes fluency activities and games, review and reinforcement of past concepts, a new concept introduction through hands-on methods and manipulatives, followed by time to practice concepts in their work text. Students in the online format also receive guided, hands-on work with a teacher and focused support as they work through the workbook component.

English Language Arts

ELA encompasses structured literacy (grammar, spelling, morphology), literature, reading and comprehension, listening, speaking, and composition. Literature and reading selections are based on social studies and science concepts, along with other high-interest materials. Literature units seamlessly build-in key skills such as vocabulary, elements of language, analysis of related informational texts, structured composition and essays, and vocabulary.

Composition

The composition component of ELA helps students refine their writing skills through focused practice with major paragraph types—narrative, descriptive, expository, and persuasive. Students learn to organize their thoughts clearly, support ideas with evidence, and revise for clarity and style. Writing is meaningfully integrated across subjects, allowing students to apply composition skills to history, science, and literature. The result is stronger, more confident writers who can communicate effectively in any setting.

Social Studies

Students in middle school dive into a study of world cultures, learning about the culture, traditions, economics, government, tourism, religion, geography, and more from countries around the world.

Learning comes to life through textbook reading, videos, research, discussions, and hands-on projects—with art integration adding a creative dimension. This well-rounded approach builds critical thinking, cultural awareness, and real-world connections across subjects.

Science

Get ready to explore, experiment, and ask big questions! Our hands-on science program follows is aligned with the Georgia Standards for Excellence. Each year, students dive into exciting topics—called anchoring phenomena—that spark curiosity and lead to real discovery. From the tiniest cells in biology to the farthest stars in space science, students explore all the major branches: biology, chemistry, physics, earth and space sciences, and environmental science. With a mix of reading, research, weekly labs, creative projects, and real-world applications, students don’t just learn science—they do science!

Enrichment

In addition to built-in enrichment opportunities within the academic program, our Friday Arts Collab provides a full day of creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving through a rotation of art and storytelling classes in the morning, paired with problem solving and Odyssey of the Mind in the afternoon!

Each of our Literature & Composition courses focuses on developing strong reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, while also introducing students to various literary forms and critical thinking. Students will engage with diverse texts, including literature, fictional short stories, poetry, drama, and informational text, and learn to analyze them for themes, symbolism, and authorial intent. Students will learn to write essays using an explicit and systematic approach, ensuring struggling writers are equipped with tools to express themselves effectively.

Our math program utilizes a blend on online learning paired with guided review and reinforcement. Each student works in his/her own level based on their math placement screening or previous math experience. Our school-selected curriculum for standard-track or students who struggle in math is Denison Algebra as this program is geared to learners who require a slower pace and a thorough breakdown. Accelerated students may select an online program of choice, provided they can work independently with minimal support.

Denison Algebra offers each level of Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry.
