What Makes Pathway Unique?

Pathway Academy is a unique, faith-based learning environment where students thrive through relaxed, hands-on instruction in the core subjects, designed to spark curiosity and build confidence. We emphasize quality over quantity, allowing students to dive deeper into concepts without the overwhelm of busywork. Instead of traditional grading, all work is thoughtfully reviewed by teachers, focusing on growth and mastery rather than mistakes or failure. This approach removes the pressure of grades and fosters a love for learning in a safe, encouraging space. At the heart of our program, we integrate Christian values into daily learning—cultivating character through the Fruits of the Spirit and weaving biblical truths into our conversations, relationships, and decision-making. At Pathway, students grow not only in knowledge but in faith, compassion, and purpose.

Pathway Academy Framework
Academics, Tailored Pathways, Personal Development, & Social Connections

Core Academics & Interdisciplinary Connections

We offer a dynamic, STEM-focused program that delivers strong instruction in core subjects—Math, ELA, Science, and Social Studies—while also providing ample opportunities for academic enrichment. Our interdisciplinary approach weaves science and social studies content into language arts, creating deeper connections and more meaningful learning. Hands-on projects and labs bring concepts to life, sparking curiosity and deeper understanding. We prioritize quality over quantity, selecting curriculum that focuses on building competent scholars while streamlining busywork to reduce stress and support more focused, purposeful learning.

Faith-Based Integration

We thoughtfully blend faith-based and neutral curriculum resources to deliver strong academic instruction while integrating a biblical worldview across all subjects. Our approach encourages students to explore how faith informs every aspect of life—whether it's recognizing God's design in science, exploring human nature through literature, or understanding historical events through a biblical lens. We welcome hard questions and guide students in wrestling with complex ideas, fostering both critical thinking and spiritual maturity. With global exposure to world religions and diverse perspectives, we help students engage with the world around them from a secure, Christ-centered foundation. This intentional approach equips students to become more confident, thoughtful, and knowledgeable individuals—prepared to navigate the world with wisdom and faith.

Academic Stamina & Executive Skills Development

Many students struggle with planning, organizing, and managing tasks due to low academic stamina or executive functioning challenges. At Prosper, we incorporate executive skill development into daily learning. Through guided practice in organization, planning, and follow-through, students build the confidence and independence needed to manage responsibilities effectively. We emphasize direction, accountability, and self-reliance, helping students become capable, independent learners ready for academic and personal success.

Community
& Connection

At Pathway Academy, we prioritize connection and friendship as a vital part of the learning journey. Through collaborative classroom experiences, creative enrichment, and fun-filled field trips, students have daily opportunities to build meaningful relationships. Community outings and service projects extend learning beyond the classroom while encouraging teamwork and empathy. As part of the EdVenture community, Pathway students also join in all EdV events—like Parents Night Out and seasonal celebrations—creating even more space for friendship, fun, and lasting memories.

Faith-based, interdisciplinary academic model with a focus on personal, spiritual, and academic growth and development.

The Pathways Academy framework is designed to foster critical thinking, creativity, global awareness, and a strong foundation of faith rooted in Biblical truth. To ensure strong mathematical foundations, math is taught through leveled, standards-aligned instruction, equipping students to approach problem-solving with confidence and clarity. We believe that engaging the mind and nurturing the spirit go hand in hand. Through interdisciplinary exploration, students examine literature and diverse perspectives to develop a deep understanding of the human experience and societal issues—all while viewing the world through the lens of their faith.

Our interdisciplinary model is based on the following tenets and tailored to students’ abilities and pacing:

  • Student-Centered Learning – Students take an active role in asking questions, seeking answers, and reflecting on how their faith informs their learning.

  • Exploration & Investigation – Learning is driven by inquiry, experimentation, and real-world problem-solving within a Biblical worldview.

  • Interdisciplinary Approach – Encourages connections between subjects to form a more holistic, faith-integrated understanding of the world.

  • Critical Thinking & Reflection – Students are challenged to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate ideas, asking how they align with truth and Christian values.

  • Collaboration & Discussion – Promotes respectful dialogue and teamwork, encouraging students to share and consider ideas with humility and grace.

  • Authentic Learning Experiences – Lessons include real-world applications and hands-on projects that allow students to use their God-given gifts for meaningful impact.

Teachers as Instructors and Facilitators – At PCA, we believe that many skills must be explicitly and systematically taught, particularly in core areas like math and structured literacy. Teachers provide direct instruction in these essential skills while also guiding students through rich, exploratory learning in science, social studies, reading, research, writing, art, and more. All of this is done with the goal of helping students grow in wisdom, knowledge, and faith.

Curriculum

Overview

At Pathways Academy, our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to foster deep, connected learning while supporting students academically, spiritually, and personally. We offer a mix of faith-based curriculum in Science and Social Studies (e.g. ACSI), neutral curriculum for math and structured literacy (e.g. Math Mammoth, Spelling), and our own teacher-curated literature studies, writing and composition program, and curriculum, paired with teacher-curated literature studies, our own composition program, and hands-on projects,

Mathematics is taught through leveled, direct instruction in the elementary grades, providing students with the structure and support needed to build strong foundational skills and confidence. In middle school, students use a self-paced online math platform paired with teacher guidance, allowing for individualized learning, targeted instruction, and meaningful support as they progress at their own pace. English Language Arts (ELA) is deeply integrated with science, social studies, and biblical studies, allowing students to develop literacy skills through rich, content-based learning. Students engage in deep literature studies aligned to science and social studies themes, blending vocabulary development, comprehension strategies, and elements of language. Each novel is carefully selected to develop specific skill sets—such as critical thinking, literary analysis, and expressive writing—while reinforcing key academic and thematic concepts. Science and Social Studies are standards-aligned and taught through hands-on, inquiry-based learning, labs, and projects. These subjects are explored in depth and often serve as the foundation for interdisciplinary units that connect directly to language arts and faith-based instruction.

By weaving academic subjects together through engaging themes and meaningful content, Pathways Academy provides a cohesive, well-rounded educational experience that encourages curiosity, promotes confidence, and reveals God's truth across all areas of learning.

Curriculum Overview 2nd - 5th

Math

We use the Math Mammoth curriculum, known for its emphasis on deep conceptual understanding and number sense. Students build strong foundations in place value, operations, fractions, decimals, and early geometry through a mastery-based approach that encourages reasoning and problem-solving. Lessons are carefully sequenced and provide ample practice, while visual models and mental math strategies help students make meaningful connections. With built-in opportunities for review and extension, Math Mammoth supports a wide range of learners and promotes mathematical confidence and independence.

Students ready for more challenge can opt for guided online instruction with teacher support as needed.

ELA: Reading & Comprehension

Our English Language Arts program is designed to support diverse learners, including those with dyslexia and dysgraphia, through structured, evidence-based instruction. The curriculum integrates literature and informational text with content from science and social studies concepts, helping students make meaningful cross-curricular connections. Using explicit strategies such as guided text annotation, multisensory vocabulary instruction, and scaffolded writing supports, students build skills in comprehension, critical thinking, and text-based analysis. Literature studies promote deeper understanding of character, theme, and literary techniques, while language and writing instruction is tailored to support reading fluency, vocabulary development, and written expression across content areas.

ELA: Grammar & Composition

Our upper elementary writing program is designed to support developing and struggling writers with clear, structured, and supportive instruction. Through explicit grammar lessons and step-by-step writing guidance, students learn to build strong sentences and organize their ideas with confidence. We begin with narrative writing to spark creativity, then gradually introduce descriptive, persuasive, and expository writing with tools like graphic organizers, sentence frames, and guided revision. Writing is meaningfully connected to science, social studies, and literature topics, helping students see the purpose of writing while building essential skills in a manageable, encouraging way.

Social Studies

Elementary social studies focuses on the final two years of a 3-year cycle of American history, aligned with Georgia state standards. In these years, students explore U.S. history and government, geography, and the global context of historical events. The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and the development of research skills. Students investigate key historical periods, from the American Revolution to the Civil Rights Movement, and learn how geography and culture shape societies. Interactive projects, map skills, and cross-curricular connections ensure that social studies is engaging and relevant, while fostering a deeper understanding of history, civics, and global interconnections.

Science

Our upper elementary science curriculum is designed to engage students with hands-on learning and exploration while covering the Georgia science standards for 4th and 5th grade. The curriculum cycles through core topics such as earth science, physical science, life science, and environmental studies, with an emphasis on inquiry, experimentation, and critical thinking. Students conduct exciting lab experiments, explore scientific concepts through interactive activities, and use real-world examples to deepen their understanding. From building simple machines to investigating ecosystems, the program sparks curiosity and encourages students to explore science in a fun, engaging way.

Our upper elementary program integrates enriching experiences like STEM challenges, art projects, and fitness activities alongside academic learning. These opportunities encourage problem-solving, creativity, and physical health while fostering teamwork and collaboration. Students also enjoy free time for socializing and building friendships, with regular brain breaks and recess to recharge and stay focused. This approach ensures a balanced education that supports both academic growth and emotional well-being.

Middle School  Focus: 6th - 7th

Our Middle School program provides a dynamic and supportive environment designed specifically for 'tween' students. As maturity in this age increases, we focus on developing essential work habits, organizational skills, and resilience while nurturing confidence and self-esteem. With an emphasis on "quality over quantity," we help students build grit and stamina for the academic challenges ahead, while also supporting individual academic needs. Our approach blends conceptual learning with skill development, offering a standards-aligned curriculum enriched with engaging, thought-provoking assignments. At the same time, we cultivate a vibrant social experience that makes learning both enjoyable and impactful.

Courses are delivered in two formats: Sequential (skills build from one course to the next) and Cyclical (content is unique from year to year and can be taken in any order). This flexible structure ensures that all students receive standards-aligned content in disciplinary subjects such as English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies over the course of three years, while also allowing for personalized instruction in skill-based subjects such as math and structured literacy (reading, spelling, grammar, etc.). By working at their appropriate challenge level, students build confidence, strengthen their understanding, and achieve their academic goals in a supportive and engaging learning environment.

And yes - we still believe in recess and an extended lunch break! Breaks and built-in social time allow students to recover from directed-attention fatigue and also boosts a sense of

connectedness and community as students enjoy time together!

Math

Students are placed in math cohorts based on their skill level, rather than their chronological grade, ensuring they receive the appropriate challenge or support needed to succeed in this subject. Students progress sequentially through the curriculum, mastering foundational concepts before advancing to higher-level coursework. This approach allows for acceleration or reinforcement as needed. Students in 6th and 7th grade will complete two years of math in middle school, with the end goal of completing Foundational Math (Support Track), 7th grade math (standard track) OR pre-algebra (STEM Track) before 8th grade.

ELA: Reading & Comprehension

Our English Language Arts program is designed to support diverse learners, including those with dyslexia and dysgraphia, through structured, evidence-based instruction. The curriculum integrates literature and informational text with content from science and social studies, helping students make meaningful cross-curricular connections.

Our middle school composition curriculum focuses on building strong writing and grammar skills through explicit, systematic instruction. The grammar skills taught in our curriculum are designed to be practical and effective for improving writing, without overwhelming students with laborious drills or excessive detail. Grammatical concepts are then applied to writing as the students progress through written compositions using the four main essay types—narrative, descriptive, persuasive, and expository. Each essay type is taught with clear, step-by-step guidance, from planning to revision. We begin with narrative writing to spark creativity and engage students, creating excitement and buy-in for the writing process. Our integrated cross-curricular concepts allow students to apply writing skills to topics in science, social studies, and literature, making writing more meaningful and connected to their studies.

Social Studies

Middle school social studies includes a two-year study of world cultures, focusing on the interconnections between history, geography, economics, government, and scientific advancements. Students also complete a one-year study of Georgia, exploring the state's history, geography, economy, government, and environmental factors through scientific inquiry. Hands-on projects such as building topographical maps of Georgia to study the state's geographical features, food tastings, field trips, and a cultural fair spark interest and creative motivated learners.

Science

The Georgia middle school science curriculum offers a dynamic approach to learning through hands-on experiments and inquiry-based lessons. Students explore key concepts in life, earth, and physical sciences, with a focus on scientific reasoning and real-world applications. Projects like building mini ecosystems to study environmental impact, creating volcano models to understand geological processes, and conducting solar system simulations help bring abstract concepts to life. The curriculum encourages critical thinking and exploration, while fostering a deeper understanding of the natural world.

All of our program offer academic and interest-based enrichment opportunities, including STEM, art, special visitors, a school-wide kids' business fair, and more!
