Remediation & Support
Our professional teachers are here to help your child thrive in their area of need! We offer specialized, OG-based remediation programs in reading, writing, and spelling for students kindergarten - 8th grade, along with comprehension intervention for students in K - 8th using Lindamood Bell's Visualizing and Verbalizing. Additionally, we provide grade-level intervention, support, and/or homework help in reading, writing, and math for students in K - 5th grade.

​What to expect​
​
We begin with a complimentary phone consultation. This consultation offers families the opportunity to tell us all about their child's learning profile, including strengths, challenges, and needs. If our services meet your needs, we will schedule your child's Intake Assessment. This initial assessment evaluates fluency, phonemic awareness, decoding (sounding out words), encoding (spelling), handwriting, comprehension, working memory, rapid naming, and higher-order thinking skills, which helps to establish the child's unique learning strengths, needs, and goals. Upon completion of the assessment, we will recommend a learning track for your child based on their needs and goals, and with consideration for your personal schedule and budget.

At this point, your child will be paired with the teacher who would best match your child's needs and learning style. Your child's instructor will put together an instructional plan for your child based on their exact placement within one, or more, of our specialized programs.

Our Teachers​
​
All tutors are current teachers at EdVentures. Our teachers are highly experienced, passionate about individualized instruction, and hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree in education. Teachers offering OG programming have taken specialized training in the Orton Gillingham approach. To ensure consistency and program fidelity, we use the University of Florida's UFLI curriculum as the program spine, paired with individually tailored materials to support your child's specific learning needs. ​

Hours of Availability
​
Each tutor sets their own hours for tutoring, but in general, tutoring is available after school Monday through Friday, along with some availability on Saturdays.​

Location​
​
Tutoring is offered at EdVentures (near Movie Tavern in Roswell, GA) and at Weatherstone Academy (near Aldi, off the 92 in east Woodstock).

Pricing
​
Start-up Fee: There is a $150 start-up fee for all reading and spelling programs. This fee includes a 60-75 minute intake assessment, a written summary of results, and a tutoring kit for in-class use.

Tutoring Packages: Packages are billed per semester and monthly installments are available. The average cost per 55-minute session is $60 - $95 depending on the specific program you select, session frequency, and teacher credentials.​

Orton Gillingham Remediation & Tutoring Programs
Looking for specialized instruction, support, or intervention in reading, spelling, writing, and/or comprehension? EdVentures offers in-person instruction to homeschoolers, as well as students in traditional education programs. We provide specialized reading instruction using quality, evidence-based programs that target specific reading skills and challenges using an explicit, structured, sequential, multisensory approach. Our program identifies learning gaps and begins instruction from the bottom-up, ensuring that students receive the most comprehensive experience possible. Once these gaps are addressed, students will be able to translate reading improvements to overall success in school.

Read * Write * Spell Remediation Program
Reading, Spelling, Writing
Our Read * Write * Spell remediation program provides intensive, individualized private instruction using a blend of evidence-based methods. We incorporate Orton Gillingham techniques for decoding, encoding, syllabication, and fluency; Lindamood Bell's Visualizing and Verbalizing for comprehension; and appropriately-leveled fluency passages, vocabulary instruction, and morphology studies. This comprehensive approach ensures targeted support tailored to each student's unique needs, fostering significant progress and confidence in their reading abilities. We highly recommend a minimum of 2 hours per week for remediation programming.

Lindamood Bell Visualizing and Verbalizing
Comprehension, Language, Critical Thinking
Does your child read fluently, but seem to struggle with answering questions related to the text? Or does everything your child reads seem to"go in one ear and out the other?" This program takes a structured and sequential approach to guiding your child through visualization, verbalization, and other sensory-cognitive processes that strengthen reading comprehension, language development, and critical thinking.

Orton Gillingham Tutoring
Phonemic Awareness, Decoding, Fluency, Spelling
Our OG tutoring program offers weekly reading support using an explicit, structured, sequential, multi-sensory method that targets reading difficulties head-on. Our trained teachers use a step-by-step approach, focusing on phonemic awareness (understanding sounds in language), recognizing phonemes (hearing and reading sounds in isolation), decoding (sounding-out words), encoding (spelling using explicitly taught spelling rules), fluency, and comprehension, to ensure students become strong and confident readers.

Building Writers
Letter Formation, Sentences, Paragraphs, Essays
This program helps strengthen your child's ability to write effectively...from letter formation to composing effective sentences, paragraphs, and essays. We ease students into their writing journey through scaffolded support that hones penmanship, writing conventions, and writing fluency. Students build the skills they need to become successful independent writers through brief, focused activities that include grammar, writing structures, and integration of more advanced language and vocabulary.
