INTRODUCTION

Joyful, Balanced, Hands-On Learning!

EdVentures is a comprehensive academics and enrichment pod where great teaching and genuine fun go hand in hand. Led by certified teachers using evidence-based strategies, students receive Orton-Gillingham reading instruction, hands-on math, and project-based science and social studies — all within a balanced, well-paced day designed to be as stress-reduced as it is academically strong. Whether your student is working on grade level, pushing ahead, or needs a little extra support along the way, EdVentures meets every learner where they are because every child deserves a teacher who truly sees them.

Beyond the classroom, EdVentures extends the adventure with family field trips that bring learning into the real world, and our Friday enrichment program — KidVentures — rounds out the week with hands-on STEM challenges, art and craftivities, and plenty of outdoor play. With a thoughtfully designed curriculum and a community that gets it, EdVentures is a place where students thrive and families belong.

Fridays
Primary Learning Labs (K-2)

Fridays are a day unto themselves — theme-based, nature-inspired, and full of life.

Each week follows a natural rhythm, moving students through a balance of guided and child-led learning experience including:

Literature connections

Hands-on STEM projects

Art and craftivities

Nature play and investigations

Outdoor exploration time with friends

Our Primary Learning Labs offer plenty of space for the kind of relaxed, joyful social time that only a full day together can offer. It's learning that feels less like school and more like the best kind of adventure.

PROGRAM FRAMEWORK

EdVentures cultivates self-confidence, creativity, and a passion for learning by emphasizing a nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment that encourages productive learning, critical thinking, and innovation in a fun and supportive space. Our curriculum and instructional practices embrace a quality-over-quantity approach. We believe students thrive when they are fully engaged and suitably challenged, without being bombarded with excess busywork. We use high-impact curriculum in reading and math to ensure maximum impact without overload. Our curriculum across all subjects is engaging and hands-on. It is structured enough to cover the core skills and standards, yet flexible enough to adapt instruction and assignments to meet students' interests and abilities.  We understand the importance of breaks and social interaction, therefore, we offer a balanced 'work hard, play hard' schedule where all groups, no matter their age, benefit from a 30-minute outdoor playtime in the morning, along with a generous hour-long outdoor break for lunch and play time.

Homeschool or Accredited Private School Status

We offer third-party accreditation through a local private school, giving families the flexibility to enroll as homeschoolers or through our partner school to earn accredited private school status. For the majority of students however, accreditation does not need consideration until they take their first high school class in 8th or 9th grade ( (i.e. Algebra 1). As a benefit to our families, all high school students will receive an accredited transcript as part of their enrollment package to ensure immediate access to HOPE/  Zell funding upon graduation.

4-Day Academic Model (Flexible Full-Time & Hybrid Attendance)

As part of our balanced approach, we embrace a four-day academic work week, reserving one day for our Friday enrichment program, family time, and/or personal interests. Within our four day week, we offer both full- and half -time attendance options: full-time students attend four on-campus academic days, while hybrid students attend two days and complete program-assigned home study curriculum at home, under the guidance of a parent.

Friday Enrichment

Primary Learning Lab (K - 2) is hosted at EdVentures and is designed for primary students, This is a drop-off program that brings learning to life through weekly themes filled with art, hands-on STEM challenges, and collaborative fun. With oodles of outdoor time and a kind, social community, kids explore, create, and grow with confidence.

Friday Quests (3rd - High School) is hosted at Weatherstone Academy and offers a dynamic array of opportunities including life skills, outdoor pursuits, creative arts, STEM, and summer-camp-style free choice activities such as wood shop, outdoor games, maker spaces, and interactive workshops!

Home Study Curriculum Package

While full-time students complete most work in class, hybrid students receive a home study package that instructs on concepts, content, and skills missed on satellite days. Home study is thoughtfully tailored to each family’s educational goals and preferred level of intensity. While “math is a must”— we require two home-based lessons each week using our scripted, easy-to-follow curriculum—all other subjects remain flexible. Parents have the flexibility to choose what fits their child and family, creating a personalized and manageable experience. On average, hybrid students complete between 45 - 180 minutes per home-based work day depending on age, working speed, and quantity of curriculum selected, leaving time for personal interests, family time, enrichment classes, co-ops, field trips, etc

LEARNING COMMUNITY

Learners

EdVentures is designed for creative, engaged learners who thrive in a balanced, purposeful, reduced-stress, and genuinely fun learning environment. We welcome students working at, above, or approaching grade level who enjoy hands-on learning, small student-teacher ratios, and a positive, respectful community. We use a Science of Reading approach (including Orton-Gillingham) to build strong literacy for all students. Whether students are ready to be challenged or need time to strengthen foundational skills, our small groups and thoughtful cohort placement allow us to support a variety of learning profiles—while maintaining a calm, kind, and fun environment where students stay curious, confident, and excited to learn. We are not equipped to accept students with aggressive or disruptive tendencies.Academic Placement: Students are grouped in flexible age bands with intentional overlap between grade levels, allowing us to account for differences in academic readiness and social maturity. This approach lets us thoughtfully build cohorts that provide just the right level of challenge or support for each student. â€‹â€‹â€‹

Academic Placement

Students are grouped in flexible age bands with intentional overlap between grade levels, allowing us to consider both academic readiness and social maturity. This approach helps us thoughtfully build academic and social cohorts that provide the right balance of challenge, support, and peer connection for each learner. For reading and math, students are placed in the academic cohort that meets their individual level. For instance, a student in third grade may be placed in the fourth grade math cohort, while also working in a support cohort for reading.

Learning Support

Our small-group model and intentional cohort placement allow us to support a variety of learning profiles, including gifted and accelerated learners, as well as students with specific, non-behavioral learning challenges such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, or difficulty with math. Accommodations and modifications are naturally built naturally into the day-to-day routine, allowing students to access learning in ways that support their individual needs. Specialized reading or math remediation may also be added to a student’s schedule for an additional fee. We strive to create a calm, positive learning environment and are not equipped to support students with aggressive, non-compliant, or disruptive behaviors.

MATH

Our math program focuses on building strong conceptual understanding and fluency through hands-on, standards-aligned instruction. Each math block includes fact practice through games, spiral review, new concept instruction, and purposeful workbook practice. We use Math With Confidence (K–6) for its strong alignment and ease of use at home. Students are grouped by proficiency within age bands for targeted instruction, with an individualized support cohort available beginning in 3rd grade for students to work at their own pace.
